Since the beginning, Hostshare was built around a simple idea...

Hosts share their unbooked nights with other hosts — so they can travel using nights that would otherwise go unbooked.

Early on, keeping bookings last-minute (within the next 5 days) was the safest way we could think of to protect hosts.

And it worked. It’s worked well for a long time.

But we started to notice something.

Most people don’t actually travel last-minute.

They plan around kids, work, and coordinating with family and friends.

Trips happen weeks — sometimes months — in advance.

And we realized we might be missing something important.

So we faced a real question.

How do we stay true to using unbooked nights while giving hosts the ability to plan ahead?

We went back to our core principles.

We challenged our assumptions and rethought how this could work — making sure one thing stayed true from start to finish:
